DPF and EGR problems are some of the most common, and most expensive-looking, faults on modern diesels. Blocked filters, stuck valves and warning lights send a lot of people straight to a main dealer quote. Often there is a legitimate fix that keeps your car legal and costs a fraction of that.

We diagnose the actual DPF or EGR fault, then put it right the proper way: forced or active regeneration to clear a loaded filter, cleaning to shift carbon build-up, and repair or replacement of parts that have genuinely failed. The aim is an emissions system that works as it should, so the warnings stop and the car runs cleanly.

This is worth being clear about. Removing or deleting a DPF is an automatic MOT failure, and tampering with emissions equipment is against the law, so we do not do it on cars used on the road. What we do is get the existing system diagnosed, cleaned, regenerated or repaired so it works properly again. That is the right fix for the car, for your MOT and for you.
Why diagnosing first saves money
A DPF light is not always a dead DPF. Very often it is a failed regeneration, a sensor, a stuck EGR or plain carbon build-up, any of which is far cheaper to sort than a new filter. Diagnosing properly first, rather than assuming the worst, is what keeps the bill sensible.
Common questions
Can you remove or delete my DPF?
No, not for a road car. Removing a DPF fails the MOT and tampering with emissions equipment is an offence, so it is not something we will do on a car used on the road. What we can do is find out why the light is on and fix it properly, whether that is a regeneration, a clean, a sensor or a repair, so the car runs right and stays legal.
Why does my DPF keep blocking?
Usually because the car does mostly short, low-speed trips, so the filter never gets hot enough for long enough to clean itself. We can sort the immediate blockage and talk you through how to keep it clear.
Is a blocked DPF always a new DPF?
No, and assuming so is how people end up overpaying. Many blocked filters can be regenerated or cleaned, and sometimes the real fault is a cheap sensor. We diagnose before we recommend anything.
