Diagnostics done properly, not guesswork
Plugging in a reader and printing a code is the easy part. The skill is reading what the code, the live data and the car are actually telling you, because a fault code usually points at a symptom, not the cause. A sensor reading low might be a duff sensor, or it might be the thing the sensor is measuring. Getting that right is the difference between a fixed car and a bill for parts you did not need.
What we can find
Warning lights, limp mode, rough idle, misfires, poor economy, DPF and EGR warnings, boost and turbo faults, sensor problems and the general 'it just is not right' complaints. If it runs, we can usually work out why it is not running as it should.
You will know the cost before we touch it
Once we have found the fault we tell you what it is and what it will cost to put right before we do any repair work. Sometimes the fix is cheap and simple, and if it is, that is exactly what we will tell you.
