Vehicle Coding & Retrofits in Chester

A lot of features are already built into a modern car's electronics and just need switching on or setting up in software. Coding lets us enable or retrofit things like TPMS, stop-start behaviour and cruise control without new hardware, on the vehicles that support it.

What coding can do

Modern cars share electronics across a whole model range, so your car often has the wiring and modules for features it was never sold with. Coding talks to those modules and turns the feature on or adjusts how it behaves. Common jobs are TPMS (tyre-pressure monitoring), changing or disabling stop-start, enabling cruise control, and tidying up niggles in lighting or dash behaviour.

It varies a lot by make, model and year, so the honest first step is to check what your specific car will and will not accept. We will tell you straight before you commit to anything.

Retrofits, done properly

Some features need a part fitting as well as the coding, cruise control being the classic example, where a stalk or switch is added and then activated in software. Where a retrofit is involved we sort the part and the coding together so it works as it should and shows up properly on the dash, not as a half-finished job.

Not every car, and we will say so

Coding is not universal. Some cars are wide open, others are locked down, and a few features simply are not there to enable. If yours is one where a job is not possible or not worth it, we will tell you rather than take the money.

Common questions

Can you enable cruise control on my car?

Often, yes, but it depends on the car. Some just need coding, others need a stalk or switch fitting first and then activating. Send us your reg and we will tell you what yours needs.

Can you turn off stop-start?

On many cars we can change or disable how stop-start behaves through coding. It varies by model, so we will confirm for your exact vehicle.

Will coding affect my warranty or MOT?

Coding enables features the manufacturer already built into the car and does not affect the MOT. If your car is under warranty, tell us and we will give you an honest view first.
